Our Beliefs

The Old and New Testaments as inspired of God and is the only sufficient, certain, authoritative rule for:

                  1. Salvation

                  2. Faith

                  3. Obedience
In one God who reveals Himself to us as:

                  1. Father

                  2. Son

                  3. Holy Spirit
That man was created in the image of God

                  1. He sinned and thereby brought upon himself not only
physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation
                      from God.

                  2. That all human beings are born with a sinful nature

                  3. Upon reaching the age of moral responsibility, become
sinners in the thought, word, and deed.
The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.

                  1. All who commit their lives to Him in trust and in obedience
are justified on the basis of His shed blood.

                  2. Salvation is by grace through faith and that all who                       receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of                       the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.

                  3. The resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord.
Jesus Christ is the head of the church

                  1. The church is self-governed by its members who follow                       the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
God, in His own time and in His own way

                  1. Will bring the world to its appropriate end

                  2. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return
personally and visibly in glory to the earth.
The dead will be raised and Christ will judge all men in righteousness

                  1. The unrighteous will be consigned to hell, the place of
                      everlasting punishment

                  2. The righteous, in their resurrected and glorified bodies,
will receive their rewards and will dwell forever in heaven
                      with the Lord.
Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avaieth much.

                     James 5:16

Cane Branch Baptist Church Covenant

Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of the church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.

We engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances, to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger, to abstain from the sale of, and use of, intoxicating drinks as a beverage and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in sickness and in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay. We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
